Example 1: find an alternative
When a requested item is unavailable or does not match a requirement, the assistant can show a connected alternative and explain which product detail makes it relevant.
Example 2: add a complementary item
A complementary suggestion should support the main choice, such as an accessory or compatible add-on, and should appear only when the connected catalog data supports the relationship.
Example 3: compare options against a need
For comparisons, the assistant should connect the visitor's requirement to specific product attributes rather than declaring a universal winner.
Ask before recommending when context is missing
If budget, size, compatibility, use case, or another decision factor is unclear, ask a short clarifying question instead of presenting a generic list.
Keep recommendations within catalog facts
Do not invent availability, compatibility, materials, performance, or price. The connected product data and merchant configuration remain the boundary.
Test representative catalog journeys
Test alternatives, add-ons, similar products, unavailable variants, and questions with missing conditions. Review the explanation as well as the products shown.
